How to change text in an image

  1. Choose an image. Pick a photo or graphic from your device, or drop or paste it on desktop. It stays in your browser until you press Change text.
  2. Draw a box around the words and type the new text. Drag a box around the words you want to change, then type what should be there instead — up to 200 characters. Your image comes back at the same size as the one you upload.
  3. Check the result. Usually in about 10 seconds at 1K (about 30 seconds at 2K, about 4 minutes at 4K) you see the result. A free preview comes back small and watermarked, with a close-up of the changed words; buy the image with credits to get it at full size. A change made with credits comes back at full size with no watermark, ready to download.

The AI redraws the words to match the original — the lettering style, colour, slant and the background behind them. If a result isn't right, press Try again or draw a tighter box around just the words.

What you can edit

Built for pictures of things. It declines documents and screenshots — identity documents, receipts, invoices, certificates, tickets, and screenshots of payments, messages or posts — so it stays a tool for designs, products and photos. The full list is in the Terms.

Free preview, or full size with credits

A free preview shows the whole image at up to 512 pixels on its long side, plus a close-up of the changed words, both carrying an "AI-edited preview · changetextinimage.app" watermark. You get 1 free try.

With credits, 1 credit = 1 edit: the change comes back at full size — the same size as your upload, up to about 16.8 megapixels — with no watermark. You can also buy a free preview's image later for 1 credit.

1 credit = 1 edit. When your account holds credits, they are used first. Packs start at $4.99 for 10 credits. Credits never expire. Pay with a card, Apple Pay or Google Pay through Stripe; tax is added at checkout where it applies.

Questions

Is it free?

The preview is free: you see a small version of the edited image and a close-up of the new words, with a watermark, before you pay anything. The full-size image without the watermark uses credits from a pack; the smallest pack is $4.99 for 10 credits — 10 edits.

How much does one image cost?

1 credit per edit, whatever the image's size. That is about 50¢ an edit on the $4.99 Trial pack and about 20¢ on the $49.90 Max pack. Credits never expire. Full table on the Pricing page.

Does the rest of my picture stay the same?

The AI redraws the image with your new words in place, matching the original lettering and background. Because the whole picture passes through the model, small differences outside the box are possible. Every result comes with a close-up of the changed words so you can check it — a free preview is made from the exact image you'd buy.

Which images can't I edit here?

Identity documents; receipts, invoices, payslips and bank statements; certificates and medical notes; tickets and boarding passes; screenshots of payments, bank or wallet apps, messages and social posts; anything that changes a real person's words to mislead; watermark or brand removal; images of anyone under 18; sexual content of real people. Before every edit, an automated check looks for documents and screenshots and refuses them, and a refused image is never stored. The full list is in the Terms.

What happens to my images?

Your image is sent to Black Forest Labs in the United States to make the edit; you're told this and asked to agree before your first edit. We delete a free preview you don't buy 72 hours after it was made, and the picture you uploaded goes with its last preview. Images you made or bought with credits stay in your account until you delete them. Black Forest Labs may keep its own copy under its own terms and use it to improve its models. Details are on the Privacy page.

Is the downloaded image labelled as AI-edited?

Nothing visible is added. The file carries Content Credentials — a signed record inside the file, added by Black Forest Labs, saying the image was made with AI. This is the kind of machine-readable marking the EU AI Act asks AI providers to add. Apps that read it, such as Meta's, may show an "AI info" label when you post the image. The preview carries it too, inside Cloudflare's own signed record.

Can I use the edited image commercially?

Yes. Commercial use of your results is included with every pack. You need the rights to the original image and the consent of any identifiable person in it, and the image must stay within the Terms.

What can I upload, and what do I get back?

JPG, PNG, WebP and HEIC images. A photo over 20 MB or 100 megapixels is resized in your browser before upload, so a large photo is never turned away for its size. You get back a JPEG or PNG at the size you chose — 1K, 2K or 4K — straight away when you use credits, or when you buy a free preview's image. It works in your web browser on phones and computers, with nothing to install.
